Holiday Health Tips From The Nurse

‘Tis the season for gathering with family and friends! Let’s keep everyone happy and healthy during school vacation!

Germs don’t take a vacation!

  • Washing your hands is the best way to protect yourself from germs! Wash frequently, with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer is a good option when out and about!

Stay Active

  • Take a walk around the block, spend time at the playground or the park for an easy way to get fresh air and keep your body moving!

Limit Screen Time

  • Try to keep screen time to an hour a day. Reading a book or playing a board/card game are alternatives to TV or video games.

Eat Balanced Meals

  • The holidays are filled with delicious foods! Try to add fruits and veggies as snacks and with as many meals as you can to balance the treats! Don’t forget to stay hydrated with water!

Be Burn Aware

  • Never leave fireplaces, heaters or candles unattended. Keep pot handles turned inwards when cooking on the stove and be mindful of hot liquids around children.

Keep Yourself Protected with Vaccines

  • Get your Flu and COVID shots yearly to keep your immune system strong

Get Your Zzz’s

  • Sleeping is essential to our health! Aim for 8 hours of sleep for adults and 10 hours for children.
